MicroAire compatible cannulas are reusable liposuction cannulas made to fit the MicroAire® PAL® power-assisted liposuction (PAL) handpiece. The handpiece moves the cannula back and forth so the surgeon does less of the work, and the cannula has to lock into it securely and release cleanly. Here is what to look for, which tip styles are available and how the same cannulas work on the new Nouvag® Liposurg® Artist.
What makes a cannula MicroAire compatible
The difference is the hub, the part that connects to the handpiece. A MicroAire compatible cannula has a hub shaped for the PAL handpiece; the tip, ports and length are chosen separately. At CLINIMED this is the MicroAire PAL compatible hub, SKU suffix -M. It uses a button-lock design for easy cannula removal and is made in diameters from Ø2.0 to Ø5.0 mm.
CLINIMED made the first MicroAire PAL compatible products more than ten years ago. Our cannulas are 304 stainless steel, electrochemically polished inside and out (including the lumen), with a lightweight medical-grade aluminium hub colour-coded by diameter. They are made to order: allow 10–14 days for standard items and up to 4 weeks for custom configurations, including custom lengths.
Also compatible with the Nouvag Liposurg Artist
The new Nouvag Liposurg Artist takes the same connection as the MicroAire PAL. That means CLINIMED -M hub cannulas, the PAL luer adapter and the PAL compatible Nouvag Liposurg adaptor all fit both handpieces. Other Nouvag Liposurg handpieces are different: they take the Nouvag compatible hub (-N). Check the handpiece model, not just the manufacturer.
Types of MicroAire compatible cannulas
A PAL handpiece is not just for aspiration. CLINIMED makes MicroAire compatible cannulas for every stage of power-assisted liposuction and fat grafting.
Tumescent infiltration
The J. Klein 1Q, 2Q and 3Q infiltration cannulas share the port pattern of the HK Surgical Tip, Half and Full Monty cannulas. The Helix infiltration cannula is the other option. Both let you infiltrate through the same handpiece you aspirate with.
Aspiration and debulking
- Mercedes, Mercedes Plus and Mercedes Triple: radial vents for 360° of extraction, a common choice for large-volume work.
- H. Becker basket and Basket/Tri-port Plus: radial vents for 360° of extraction.
- Tri-port, Tri-port Plus, Helix Tri-Port III and Cane: 270° of extraction.
- RK, RK micro and RK aggressive; D. Del Vecchio; J. Carraway; P. Miller; A. Saad HD: 270° multi-vent and multi-hole designs.
- Single, double and triple cannulas: linear, flap and wedge (spatula) tips, including the Finesse double wedge and the Capistrano single wedge, for controlled 90° extraction.
- Rasping and M. Gilliland etching cannulas for fibrous areas and definition work.
- L. Toledo "V" and "W" notch dissectors for releasing fibrous bands.
- The Jack of Diamonds cannula and the Multi-Rapid extraction cannula.
Fat harvesting for grafting
Multi-hole harvesting cannulas produce smaller fat parcels for grafting: the A. Trivisonno and R. Bensimon nano harvesters, and the J. Sørensen, P. Tonnard, M. Sforza and G. Sattler harvesting cannulas, all with 360° of extraction.
Fat re-injection
The S. Coleman infiltration/re-injection cannulas (Fig. 1, 2 and 3), the S. Coleman atraumatic "V" dissector and the Closed Neck "V" dissector are all available with the PAL compatible hub.

Already have luer or Nouvag cannulas?
You don't need a second set of cannulas to use a PAL handpiece. The PAL luer adapter runs luer-lock cannulas from any manufacturer, and the PAL compatible Nouvag Liposurg adaptor runs -N hub cannulas. The MicroAire PAL Expansion Pack adds tumescent infiltration and fat re-injection adaptors too, at 10% off the four adaptors bought separately.
How to choose
- Confirm the handpiece. MicroAire PAL or Nouvag Liposurg Artist take the -M hub; other Nouvag Liposurg handpieces take -N.
- Pick the stage. Infiltration, aspiration, harvesting for grafting or re-injection.
- Pick the tip. More ports and 360° extraction for volume; fewer ports and 90° extraction for control; multi-hole harvesters for grafting.
- Pick the diameter and length. The -M hub runs from Ø2.0 to Ø5.0 mm; custom lengths are available.
- Check the cross-reference. Many CLINIMED cannulas list the matching MicroAire part numbers, and the full CLINIMED to MicroAire cross-reference is in our catalogs.
Frequently asked questions
What are MicroAire compatible cannulas?
Reusable liposuction cannulas with a hub designed to fit the MicroAire PAL power-assisted liposuction handpiece. CLINIMED makes them for infiltration, aspiration, fat harvesting and fat re-injection.
Do MicroAire compatible cannulas fit the Nouvag Liposurg Artist?
Yes. The Liposurg Artist takes the same connection as the MicroAire PAL, so CLINIMED -M hub cannulas fit both. Other Nouvag Liposurg handpieces take the -N hub.
What sizes are available?
Ø2.0 to Ø5.0 mm with the MicroAire PAL compatible hub. For smaller diameters, use a luer cannula with the PAL luer adapter.
Are they reusable?
Yes. They are stainless steel and autoclavable. Follow the CLINIMED instructions for use for cleaning and sterilisation.
Is CLINIMED part of MicroAire?
No. CLINIMED is an independent US manufacturer, FDA registered/listed and ISO 13485 certified. Our products are designed to be compatible with the MicroAire PAL system.
